Meet the 2DB team

A friendly, approachable attitude towards customer service comes as standard with all our team members. Together, our skills enable 2DB to innovate and create high quality products that truly benefit our clients.

Our in-house team mixes a wealth of experience in software engineering and development with sound knowledge of the industry technologies that drive information display systems, which means that we’re always on tap to react quickly and effectively to changing requirements or new challenges.

Steve Boffo

Steve founded 2DB with Jim Davis in 1998. He specialises in computer consultancy, project management, systems analysis and software development. Steve started his computing career with Mecca Bookmakers in 1985, before moving to SIS in 1987.

During his 13 years with SIS, Steve played a key role in the design, development and specification of many of their benchmark products including central site data systems, SisText and NexSIS. In 1996, he was appointed head of SIS Software Development & Technical Support. Two years later he left to form 2DB.

On the rare occasions when Steve’s not deep in the business of technology, he’s most likely to be found on a golf course working on his swing.

Jim Davis

Jim founded 2DB with Steve Boffo in 1998. His focus is consultancy, project management, systems analysis, software development and operational research.

With an honours degree in mathematics from Oxford University, Jim got into the business of computers in 1975 and hasn’t stopped since. In 1981 he developed the first 12 screen colour text system for Mecca Bookmakers (now part of William Hill).

Since then Jim has led many worldwide projects developing innovative, tailored digital systems for most of the major bookmaking brands. Jim likes his music and he likes it loud, from Amy McDonald to Scooter.

Angelo Sanzone

Angelo started out tending sheep for his late grandfather in a peasant mountain village in Southern Italy! However, he somehow found his way into the UK betting business. He has over 30 years experience in the industry.

His first role, with Ladbrokes, involved turning their less profitable shops into commercial successes. Next, at SIS, he worked closely with Jim & Steve in a customer-facing role. As the first Sales Manager at SIS, he contributed significantly to the success of the business. Then, as Regional Manager for London and South East, he oversaw the sales and service requirement of over 3,000 betting shops.

Since leaving SIS in 1999, Angelo has been involved in the property development side of the industry - first with Chase Bookmakers and then assisting Betfred with their rapid expansion plan.

Angelo joined 2DB in 2008 to head up sales and marketing for our growing business. His three daughters ensure that his hobbies are limited to DIY and fair weather cycling.

James Clark

James has been in the IT industry for over two decades and specialises in computer consultancy, project management, systems analysis and software development. James has an honours degree in computer engineering from the University of Teesside.

He joined SIS in 1994 for two years and then ventured overseas to work on a number of different contracts before returning to the UK in 2000 to become part of 2DB.

James is our southernmost team member as he is now based in Perth, Western Australia. Given the wonders of technology, he continues to play a fully involved role in 2DB projects which means we are effectively working around the clock.

He also trained as a physical therapist, specializing in Shiatsu – a healing form of acupuncture from Japan.

He loves to ride his bike and occasionally abandons his wife and kids to cycle off into the night on a 24-hour endurance ride. Although that's nothing unusual having already fulfilled his life ambition of cycling across America in three months, but he's still looking for that comfier saddle.
